"The author of these plans was Captain Philip Beaver, R.N., commander of the Acasta, a 40-gun frigate, at the taking of Martinique. His diagrams of the first and second landings look like complicated football lineups, with positions of the various boats from the ships of the fleet, and listing "Captain S. T. Pechell R.N." "Captain Thos Cochrane R.N." "Captain John Dick R.N. to superintend the whole. P: Beaver." Below Beaver's own endorsement on the docket title is that of a famous naval scholar and artist, also present at the taking of Martinique.""Presented to the Hartwell M. S.
